              Brings Home 3 State Awards

On January 25, 2005, the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association's 2005 Annual Conference was held in Montgomery, Alabama It was our own Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department that came home with the largest number of awards. The highest recognition of the A.R.P.A. Annual Conference is the coveted "Agency Of The Year" Award. This is the crown jewel of the awards given each year. The statewide competition for all the A.R.P.A awards are intense with extensive documentation and artifacts required to support each Parks and Recreation Department's application. The City of Enterprise is honored to announce that of the eight awards categories presented for the 2004 year, the Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department won in three of the categories.

Enterprise Parks and Recreation was first awarded the 2004 Renovation and Rehabitation of Facility Award. This was in recognition of the temendous effort by the City Recreation Staff in creating a baseball thri-plex with the repurposing and rehabilitating of Thornton Field along with the renovation and reformation of the Moose Hope Gymnasium.

The Sports Complex was envisioned and built with the input and support of the surrounding areas and this investment by the community shows in the consistant use of the facility in its first year. The Sports Complex has enabled the offering of sporting events to all ages including activities from local league competitions to state and regional tournaments. The Sports Complex has achieved numerous goals for the surrounding community. It has given new life and vibrancy to the already existing parks in close proximity to the Complex. It has become a beacon and icon to the rest of the state as other cities travel to Enterprise to take home ideas for their own Recreation Departments.
