The Enterprise Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation has completed disbursement of funds collected for victims of the March 1 2007 tornado. The Foundation, working on recommendations from a special Citizens Committee and The Recovery Organization of Coffee County, gave financial assistance to approximately 350 storm victims totaling almost $829,000.
After the devastating storm of March 1st, the Enterprise City Council and Mayor Kenneth Boswell asked the non-profit Chamber Foundation to receive and disburse funds from a special tornado disaster relief account set up by the City. Using criteria set up by the city council, The Recovery Organization of Coffee County,(R.O.C.C) accepted applications for assistance. After processing the applicatons, the R.O.C.C submitted the requests to the special Citizens Committee requested by the Foundation and appointed by the City. This committee made the final determinations on a case-by-case basis. After a thorough examination of each application, the Citizens Committee submitted the requests to the Executive Committee of the Chamber Foundation for approval. Contact and disbursement was done by the Chamber staff.
