RECYCLE IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO

PAPER - Newspaper, white paper, green bar computer paper, shredded paper, junk mail, magazines, and brown paper bags are accepted as recyclable paper products.

ALUMINUM CANS - All beverage cans. No Aluminum Foil.

TIN CANS - This includes soup, vegetable and fruit cans. Please remove lid and rinse can.

PLASTIC - No. 1 & 2 plastics (Look at the bottom of each plastic container for a number in the triangle). Please rinse and flatten plastic containers.

HOW TO RECYCLE:

ORANGE RECYCLING BAG & INSTRUCTIONS - An orange bag is provided to residents interested in participating in the City's Recycle Program. Contact the Sanitation Department at 334-348-2665, to receive an orange recycle bag. The City will tie an orange recycle bag to your curbside garbage container only if you participate in the recycle program.

IMPORTANT - Save all your recyclables until your scheduled recycling day. Place the orange bag on the curb before 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled day and you will receive a new replacement bag at pick- up.

WHY RECYCLE:

RECYCLING SAVES LANDFILL SPACE -  When our community recycles, it extends the lifespan of our landfill.

RECYCLING CONSERVES NATURAL RESOURCES - Every ton of recycled paper produced SAVES approximately 17 trees. A ton of recycled paper uses 7,000 gallons LESS water to produce than non-recycled paper.

RECYCLING SAVES ENERGY - Recycling conserves petroleum. Making products from recycled materials uses LESS energy (fuel) than producing from new material. Throwing away 1 aluminum can WASTES as much energy as pouring out a cup of gasoline. Plastics are petroleum-based products; therefore, recycling plastics conserves natural resources as well as energy.

RECYCLING REDUCES POLLUTION - Using recycled materials over and over again creates LESS air and water pollution than starting from scratch with raw materials.
